American iconic electric automaker Tesla is participating in world’s toughest hacking contest known as Pwn2Own.
Pwn2Own is a hacking contest started back in 2007 to find out the vulnerabilities of widely used software’s and hardware’s.
Software and hardware products include are Apple products, Microsoft, Oracle and other mobile devices etc.
The contest will be held at CanSec West security conference in March 2019 in Vancouver, Canada.
Automobile is the new category introduced this year to check the research and development strength of auto industry.

Researchers will need to find out any new bugs to win the model 3. Tesla is also adding its other products including Tesla Power-wall into the contest.
Pwn2Ownshared almost $4 million in 10 years with its researchers and bug bounty hunters as prize money in its hacking contest.
Pwn2Own and Tesla Bounty Program
Tesla started its own bug bounty program in 2014 to find out bugs in its software to improve its security. Tesla regularly updates its software over the air.
Automaker is offering around $15K to bug hunters.
Automaker insists its customers to hack their own Tesla vehicle software within the rule and it will freely re-flash its software without affecting its warranty.
Tesla is the sole automaker participating in the Pwn2Own contest this year and it will surely encourage other automakers as well.
