China’s attempt to see “Dark side of the moon”

China launched a historic space rover, to the dark side of the moon on Friday, December 07, 2018. Chinese named the rover after moon Goddess and called as a Chang’s e-4.

China’s space ambition to race against the Russia and United States is known to the world with China’s attempt to build its own space station and recently launched Beidou satellite series to develop new, China controlled “GPS system”.  

Earlier Chang’s e-3 made soft landing 2 years back and with the same design but better payload capability, Chinese developed the next series Chang’s e-4 and will land on the “Dark or Far side of the moon” by first week of January 2019.

It will land on the Aitken basin which is the largest crater in the solar system. To avoid the communication problems, China already launched another satellite few months back to help set communication link.

Chang’s e-4 is equipped with landing Camera, the Terrain Camera (TCAM), the Low Frequency Spectrometer (LFS), and the Lunar Lander Neutrons and Dosimetry (LND), Near-Infrared Imaging Spectrometer

Tomato on the Dark side of the moon??

Chinese scientist wants to conduct a biological experiment on the moon surface to understand how a silkworm eggs and seeds of tomato will react to the moons atmosphere.

Previously, Soviet Union was able to capture the first images of far side of the moon in 1959 and then Astronauts from Apollo 8 seen it by naked eye in 1968 while orbiting the moon.
