United States on Monday finalized the criminal charges against Huawei which is world’s largest telecom equipment manufacturer.In addition to this, they also included its subsidiary company Skycom Huawei device America.

Huawei is charged with

  • seven counts of wire fraud
  • one count of obstruction of justice 
  • conspiracy to steal trade secrets
  • attempted theft of trade secrets

Canadian authorities arrested Meng Wanzhou in December 2018 at the airport of Vancouver. 

Lots of outcry was seen against the Canadian authorities on Chinese social media. Numerous request been made to release Huawei global chief financial officer.

Now, Canada set the January 30, 2019 last date to file for extradition of Meng Wanzhou for United States.

Trade tension between United States and China are all time low and its effects on Chinese economy started reflecting through economic and manufacturing slowdown.

Is 5G National Security threat?

United States already barred Huawei to participate in bidding to develop the 5G infrastructure in the country. Further, it also pushing its allies to stop working with Chinese telecom giant citing Huawei is the national security threat.

5G will boost arm race and whoever got the speed and infrastructure, will lead the war zone during times to come. Hence, US does not want to vacate its top position.

China responded to the criminal charges against Huawei and called out it as a Unfair and immoral.
