Facebook hires former deputy prime minister of UK Nick Clegg

Nick Clegg, former deputy Prime Minister of UK is joining the social media giant Facebook at Palo Alto office in Silicon Valley.

Mark Zuckerberg and Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg was behind the recruitment and Former PM said Mark was pursuing him from long time to get on board.

Nick Clegg 51, held deputy PM office of United Kingdom in-between 2010 to 2015 is liberal democrat. He also served as Member of Parliament (MP) Sheffield Hallam from 2005 to 2017 but lost his seat in 2017 general elections.

At Facebook, Clegg will be working as a head of global policy and communications.

Facebook is struggling to take on hate speech, fake news and elections meddling as countries are taking a strict stance to regulate the platform.

To avoid the any type of regulations by government, Facebook has started building different tools and features to bring the transparency on the platform like users from US, UK and Brazil now can able to see the origin and sponsors of political ads.Amazon ad

Facebook recently fined of £500,000 by UK government over user data access to Cambridge Analytica firm which were harvesting the user data to target the political ads.

Nick Clegg, who worked in both Britain and Europe on policy making and understanding the different tax policies, can help Facebook to gain trust of European regulators and UK by setting correct policies in the place.
