Hyundai and Kia motors will face questions over engine fire safety in US

Korean automakers Hyundai and Kia asked to attend the November 14 commerce committee hearing in the US over engine fire safety.

From June 2018, more than 100 complaints registered related to fire in the vehicles without any collisions.

Hyundai recalled 470,000 Sonata sedans in the US in 2015 citing engine issues which contains manufacturing debris which could result into stopping of the vehicles leads to crashing possibility.

Committee will ask for testimony in written before appearing to the hearing on “Vehicle Fires: Examining an Ongoing Safety Issue”  

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is actively looking into the cases related to fire and collecting the data from Kia and Hyundai.

Senator Bill Nelson said in a statement, we’ve got to get to the bottom of what’s causing these fires and Car owners need to know if their vehicles are safe.

According to the Center for Auto Safety, Hyundai and Kia should be recalling 3 million vehicles to fix any problems related with non-collision fires.
